PINE
2023 | 42,5 x 60 cm
Mixed media painting by Lennart Pihl. Recycled PVC advertisement framed with aluminum profile. Created using various spray, latex and acrylic paints, as well as some montage glue and printer ink.
The image depicts a pine tree on a hill, protected by a forest spirit reminiscent of an elk skeleton who is being hunted by a ranger with a bow and an arrow. The ethereal ranger in this case seems less real, less grounded, less connected to the rest of the image hinting that he or she is out of place, not the tree or spirit. This forces the human viewing the painting with the tendency to familiarize with human-like characters immediately find inner conflict as the ranger is obviously not the main character of the story, but an intruder disturbing harmony.
The painting “PINE” is part of a three piece series with “OAK” and “SPRUCE”. It has been to one exhibition.
